Item Description: | Evans attributes this almanac, as he does most of those issued under the Bickerstaff pseudonym, to Benjamin West. Calculated by Nathan Daboll. The eclipse predictions are a nearly identical version of those in his New England almanac and gentlemen and ladies' diary for 1798 (New London). The calculations for the sun and moon, and most of the astronomical and horological notes on the calendar pages, duplicate Daboll's. The tide column varies, reflecting the difference in meridian between the two almanacs. Advertised in the Norwich packet, Oct. 10, 1797. The Anatomy is the only illustration. Printer's advertisement, p. [24]. Readex Early American Imprints, Series I: Evans, 1639-1800 |
