Description
Summary:Taking stock of the University Reform at UC, 50 years after that August 11, 1967, when the FEUC headed by Miguel Ángel Solar decided to take over the university, could be a risk, since the Reform is still a matter of controversy, of criticism and even grudges; It is a discussion that has not cooled down, but this also indicates that it is alive, that many of its bases and proposals are still valid today, and that to a large extent they help us to understand what our university is currently. These reformist ideas did not emerge in 1967, they even came from the previous decade, but the "take" and the rectorship of Fernando Castillo Velasco were the moment in which they began to acquire a clearer profile and became more concrete in the areas of institutional, research, teaching, in the university government and in the relationship with society. All this happened, moreover, in a country that towards the end of that decade already showed signs of changes, of participation, of reforms in different areas; but that also began to show fractures that would become a growing social polarization and a political crisis that led to the military coup of 1973.
