520 | |a The Halafian collection consists of 23 documents, all in English. The documents discuss the Halafian tradition in Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey from 7700 B.P. - 7000 B.P. (5700 B.C. - 5000 B.C.). Three documents provide a general overview of the Halafian tradition. Akkermans (1993) surveyed the Balikh river valley and excavated at many sites, including several Halafian sites. He compares the Halafian Balikh valley sites to other sites in Turkey, Syria, and Iran. Watson summarizes the state of Halafian knowledge up to 1982. Hijjara excavated at Arpachiyah and conducted a survey in northern Iraq, and provides a minor overview of Halafian sites. Other documents focus on specific sites, including the excavations at Yarim Tepe I, II, and III, Girikihaciyan, Tepe Gawra, and Tell Sabi Abyad in the Balikh valley in Syria. Also included are bibliographies by Yoffee and Akkermans. | ||
