He compares the Halafian Balikh valley sites to other sites in Turkey, Syria, and Iran. Watson summarizes the state of Halafian knowledge up to 1982. Hijjara excavated at Arpachiyah and conducted a survey in northern Iraq, and provides a minor overview of Halafian sites. Also included are bibliographies by Yoffee and Akkermans.
